Hitech GP announce Reece Ushijima in the 2021 FIA Asian Formula 3 Championship
Hitech GP announce Reece Ushijima in the 2021 FIA Asian Formula 3 Championship, set to take place across five rounds in the UAE at Yas Marina Circuit and Dubai Autodrome.
California-born Reece Ushijima debuted in the 2020 BRDC British Formula 3 Championship with Hitech, finishing eleventh in the standings. With the Asian F3 Championship offering FIA super license points, the 17-year-old will continue to race with the team in a series set to take place in the Middle East.
At the age of 13, Ushijima had his first experience of motorsport at the A-One Circuit in Fukuoka, Japan, and has since contested national and international competition in Asia, North America and Europe. He made his car-racing debut at a Formula Ford 1600 event in 2019, achieving pole, two podium finishes and a fastest lap. Securing a pair of fastest laps at the Dubai Autodrome in the Asian-based MRF Challenge debut later that year, Ushijima then stepped up to the 2020 BRDC British F3 with Hitech finishing eleventh overall. He will continue to race for the team in the 2021 FIA Asian Formula 3 Championship.
The 2021 Asian F3 Championship is provisionally set to take place across five back-to-back rounds at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit and Dubai Autodrome, between 22nd January and 21st February 2021.
Reece Ushijima commented on the signing:
“I’m thrilled to be continuing my relationship with Hitech GP this winter in Asian F3. It will be a challenge but I’m looking forward to what’s in store for us, and it will definitely be a great learning opportunity for me.”
